Serving Healthcare Communities in Crisis

Serving Healthcare Communities in Crisis

Sodexo team members are working across regions so communities continue to be served as our nation battles COVID-19. Their efforts are notable not only for the impact they are having on the ground, but also because good news has the power to inspire others.

#WeAreInThisTogether

We are so proud of the Sodexo teams who have shown resilience, optimism, and innovation while continuing to serve their communities during this time. Here are some of their stories. Scroll down to see how you can help communities in need.

Using Nutrition as COVID-19 Therapy

New York, NY - Sodexo Registered Dietitians (RD) Veronica Sommer, Arlene White-Tucker and Monica Schmitt are on the frontlines at Health + Hospitals helping to care for COVID-19 patients. Treating COVID-19 patients is very different from treating other patients, and Veronica, Arlene and Monica have to work in conjunction with doctors and nurses to ensure nutrition play a critical role.

Pop-Up Farmer's Markets Serve Hospital Employees Fresh Goods

Irvine & New Port Beach, CA - Getting hospital workers convenient access to fresh food is important to maintaining their safety at this time. Sodexo’s new Farmer’s Micro Markets are bringing fresh, local produce and household essentials to HOAG Irvine and HOAG Newport Beach, right on site. As an extra precaution, items are bagged for each employee by a Food & Nutrition Services (FNS) team member.

Working Around the Clock to Prepare for a Patient Surge

Fort Lauderdale, FL - In preparation for the anticipated COVID-19 patient surge, Bill Westbay & his Facilities Management team at Holy Cross Hospital converted an amazing 63% of patient rooms from positive to negative air pressurization. They then built a covered ramp & shelving to convert a refrigerated truck into a makeshift morgue - all while still responding to the hospital's day to day needs.

Teaching an Old Robot New Tricks to Support Hospital Staff

Jacksonville, FL - To better support their clinical colleagues during this unprecedented time, the Sodexo facilities management team at UF Health decided to get creative. They're now using the UV disinfectant robot to deep clean hospital staff's personal items like cellphones, stethescopes, and backpacks - after performing a thorough cleaning of hospital lounges and locker rooms of course.

No-Stress Shopping for Hospital Workers on the Front Lines

Pasadena, CA - The team at Huntington Hospital in Pasadena launched a new pre-order micro market exclusively for hospital employees to alleviate the stress of grocery shopping after long days of hard work. Employees can pre-order fruits and vegetables, including produce boxes from local farms, household essentials and basic toiletries. Over 100 orders were placed within the first two days!
